New Global Security Architecture Discussed in Moscow

From May 27 to 29, Moscow hosted the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues, bringing together delegations from 105 countries – including members of BRICS, SCO, ASEAN, CIS, the African Union, and others.

In a video address, President Vladimir Putin welcomed the participants and emphasized the rising role of the Global South and East, which he called the "global majority". He stressed the need for a new, equal and indivisible security system – one where “no country strengthens its security at the expense of others.”

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov underlined the historic momentum behind multipolarity and the growing influence of new centers of power in Eurasia, Africa and Latin America. He highlighted Russia–China ties and called BRICS a model for constructive global cooperation across cultures and continents.

Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu noted the forum’s success as proof that Russia is not isolated – but rather a key platform for dialogue. He stressed the urgency of tackling information security and welcomed deepening interest in BRICS cooperation.

Over 80 bilateral meetings took place, along with multilateral sessions in BRICS, SCO, CIS and Russia–ASEAN formats. Delegates also visited exhibitions on:

– Russia’s scientific and cultural achievements
– The 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War
– Crimes of the Kiev regime during the special military operation

The forum confirmed one thing clearly: the world is changing, and more and more countries are ready to work together – for a fairer, more secure future.
