Comment by Ambassador Vladimir Malygin on recent publications in the Times of Malta

I was quite surprised by yet another statement of Secretary General of NATO Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, published in one of your newspaper’s recent issues. Among other things he said: “Russia is building up forces on the border with Ukraine and sending more military hardware into Eastern Ukraine”.

As always, no evidence whatsoever to back up these bold statements was provided. No reports from journalists on the ground, no satellite pictures – even though as far back as 1975, as I know, American and Soviet satellites could take clear pictures of number plates of cars from space.

As to who is really violating the Minsk agreements, I would like to draw your attention to some of the recent statements by Ukraine’s president Poroshenko, who declared his intention to claim back Donetsk airport (which is under control of the self-defense forces – as it should be according to the Minsk documents). Mr. Poroshenko also said that Ukraine was using the ceasefire to build up and rearm its military units.

So here is my question – does one need more proof to see true goals of the Ukrainian government?
